CCS Donates 2,000 Pairs of Pants

11 August 2015

CCS, a skateboard and apparel company dressing boys and men since 1985, donated 2,000 pairs of pants to The Salvation Army last month. Check your local Family Store for these pants and other amazing finds! All proceeds benefit The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center, which serves men recovering from drug and alcohol addictions. Thank you CCS for helping people in need!

With the heat approaching record highs, we all know that hydration is key to staying safe, especially those on the streets. The Salvation Army will be taking several precautions, at least Thursday and Friday, and offering various hydration and cooling breaks for the Portland Metro community.

The Salvation Army and Target are helping over 100 K-12 students across the Metro area gear up for the upcoming academic year with the Target School Spree.


2,400 Boxes to Be Distributed to Families in Need Through Feed The Children - Salvation Army Partnership

2,400 boxes are to be distributed to local families in need on Wednesday, July 10th, 2013, thanks to a partnership between The Salvation Army and Feed The Children's Americans Feeding Americans project. In the early morning hours, 2 semi-trucks full of food boxes, hygiene and household products will be unloaded in the Eastport Plaza parking lot.


Coos Bay Volunteers to Relieve Disaster Workers in Colorado Fires

Three volunteers from Oregon will be flying out of the Eugene airport today to relieve disaster workers serving at the fires. Lieutenant Kevin Pope and 2 volunteers from The Salvation Army Coos Bay Corps will be serving at the fire level in the smoke for up to 14 days. While there, this team will be assisting in serving food and beverages from Emergency Disaster Canteens to first responders on scene battling the fires.


Free Tax Help from AARP for Low-Income Families At The Salvation Army Rose Center

The Salvation Army Portland Tabernacle is partnering with the AARP Foundation, the nation's largest free, volunteer run tax preparation program to help assist low-income residents in Northeast Portland in preparation of their taxes. This free service will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 AM-2 PM now through April 11th at The Salvation Army Rose Center for Seniors.


Community Partner & Volunteer Recognition Luncheon in Gresham

To acknowledge local support from the community, The Salvation Army Gresham Corps & Community Center is inviting friends who have supported them to "Hearts in Motion: a Community Recognition Lunch" on Tuesday, March 12th, 2013 at 11:30am. The luncheon will be held at the Gresham Corps.


$1,000 Grant from the Oregon Air Show

At a ceremony on December 6, The Salvation Army Tualatin Valley Citadel received a $1,000 grant from the 2012 Oregon International Air Show. The grant will be helpful as they expect the number of people looking for a warm meal to rise again in 2013. With $1,000, The Salvation Army can purchase about 363 meals!


1 Man Running 100 Miles for Charity on March 3rd

One man, one-hundred miles. That's right - Jason Zacher is running 100 miles for charity on March 2nd and 3rd, 2013 from Portland to Lincoln City. His journey is called "Angels Flight 100," and he is running for 2 charities - Angels Anonymous in Lincoln City and The Salvation Army Veterans and Family Center in Beaverton.
