Free Tax Help from AARP for Low-Income Families At The Salvation Army Rose Center

The Salvation Army Portland Tabernacle is partnering with the AARP Foundation, the nation's largest free, volunteer run tax preparation program to help assist low-income residents in Northeast Portland in preparation of their taxes. This free service will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 AM-2 PM now through April 11th at The Salvation Army Rose Center for Seniors.

$1,000 Grant from the Oregon Air Show

At a ceremony on December 6, The Salvation Army Tualatin Valley Citadel received a $1,000 grant from the 2012 Oregon International Air Show. The grant will be helpful as they expect the number of people looking for a warm meal to rise again in 2013. With $1,000, The Salvation Army can purchase about 363 meals!

1 Man Running 100 Miles for Charity on March 3rd

One man, one-hundred miles. That's right - Jason Zacher is running 100 miles for charity on March 2nd and 3rd, 2013 from Portland to Lincoln City. His journey is called "Angels Flight 100," and he is running for 2 charities - Angels Anonymous in Lincoln City and The Salvation Army Veterans and Family Center in Beaverton.

Walmart & The Salvation Army Partnering for a "Fill The Truck" Toy Drive This Saturday

Walmart and The Salvation Army are encouraging shoppers to purchase gifts for children in need and fill the truck at the event. Michael Allen Harrison Appearing at Club 1865

On Tues., Oct. 23rd, join The Salvation Army for a night on the town with "Michael Allen Harrison Appearing at Club 1865" at 7pm, with hors d'oeuvres starting at 6:15pm, at the Gresham Corps. The concert, which benefits the youth and music programs at the Gresham Salvation Army, will feature Michael Allen Harrison as well as a performance with him and several students from the Gresham Music Academy.

Struggling Veterans to Receive Essential Services at 2012 East County Stand Down

Cooling Shelter to Open as Temperatures Reach 98 Degrees

The Salvation Army Rose Center for Seniors will be open to everyone on those days when temperatures reach 98 degrees and above. There, those affected by the heat can enjoy a cool evening, light snacks, and lots of water. The Rose Center is located at 211 NE 18th Ave., Portland, OR, 97232.
