In cities all over the US, Salvation Army worship and service centers (called "corps") are providing social services such as food, clothing, shelter and other essentials of life to their neighbors in need.

The San Diego Centre City Corps in downtown is one such place. Here's a brief snapshot of a day in the life of the center's ministry.

Around noon at the downtown San Diego Salvation Army, five men and a woman with her little boy are already waiting in the shady courtyard for the Social Services office to open up again at 1PM. They're hoping to get something to eat, a change of clothes or some hygiene items. Just inside, a handful of ladies are having a chat and a bit of lunch at their weekly Home League meeting; a fellowship group for women.
