Oregon Historical Society Helps The Salvation Army Celebrate 125 Years in Portland


This fall, the Oregon History Museum celebrates 125 years of the Salvation Army in Portland. This exhibit will explore the birth of the organization in Great Britain, how the Army
was established in Portland and explain the many symbols and characters that have defined the Army in the Rose City. Original uniforms, instruments and historic images will help tell the story of one of the longest-running charitable organizations in Oregon.

ALL ABOUT KIDS RAISES OVER $230,000


It was truly a night all about the kids, and thanks to the generous support of the community, there will be many, many more days and nights that are all about the kids. 234 people attended
The Salvation Army’s 17th Annual All About Kids Annual Dinner on Thursday, September 22nd, 2011 at the Oregon Zoo, and in just a few short hours, over $230,000 was raised for the kids in the Portland Metro area.

A Touch of Class - Marian Prichett High School, Boise Idaho

JUNIOR LEAGUE OF PORTLAND INSPIRES YOUNG MOTHERS AT WHITE SHIELD

There is so much running through a new mother's mind, how much formula and food to give her baby, when to start potty training, when she will be able to fit in some sleep. Every mother hopes to start her child's life out right, encouraging and supporting them from birth to be loving, caring and successful individuals.

In an outreach project through the Junior League of Portland, the girls at The Salvation Army White Shield Center will hopefully start their babies reading from birth.

Through a program called "Bring Me a Book" . . .
