Released 5 October 2009
The Salvation Army in Red Bluff is reporting a food shortage due to the increased number of families seeking assistance. The Salvation Army of Red Bluff provides emergency food boxes stocked with enough food to feed a family of four for a week.
With the dwindling economy and the increased cost of living, the demand for assistance has increased. The Salvation Army is seeking the public's help to restock their food pantry or they fear they'll have to turn starving families away.

"Last spring individuals and families of Tehama County conducted a food drive for our pantry. This food drive stocked our shelves for many months, however, that food is gone, but the hunger families in need are facing is not," said Major Frank Severs, Corps Officer of The Salvation Army in Red Bluff. "We need the public's help again so we can keep feeding families this fall."
Certain staples are needed, such as canned foods, baby food, cereal, rice and beans. Donations of fresh fruits and vegetables and baked goods are also needed.
