Christmas Volunteer Opportunities
Bell Ringers and Bell Ringing Office
Hours and locations will vary, depending on your schedule and preferences. Bell ringers must have a picture ID and must not be listed on the Megan's Law database.
Counter Kettles
An ideal way for businesses to help raise funds for the holiday season without having a bell ringer present. Simply call 222-2207 x18, and a volunteer coordinator will arrange for a counter kettle to be brought to your place of business.
Christmas & Thanksgiving Baskets, Angel Tree
Each year, The Salvation Army brings Christmas and Thanksgiving joy to hundreds of needy families and children all over Shasta County. We are in need of sponsors to purchase toys for children, as well as volunteers to help package, sort, and choose gifts for children who do not get sponsored.
Year-Round Volunteer Opportunities
Receptionist
Duties will include answering phones and assisting clients sign up for services such as emergency food. Hours are generally weekdays from 8:45am-12pm.
Pantry Worker
Pantry workers are responsible for sorting, stacking, and distributing perishables and non-perishables. Hours are generally weekdays from 9am-11:30pm.
Thrift Store Stocker
Lifting and bending will be required. Duties may include stocking shelves, helping customers, sorting clothes, and cleaning. Hours will vary.
Youth Worker
Criminal background checks required. Sunday school teachers needed for all age groups, 9am-11am. Leaders needed for Troops, Thursdays from 4pm-4:30pm.
Canteen Worker
Hours vary. Responsibilities include cooking and preparing food for groups ranging from 1-100.
Janitor
Hours generally Monday through Friday, 9am-3pm. Responsibilities include cleaning, sweeping, and vacuuming.
