Enterprise Rent-A-Car Puts the Brakes on
Hunger in the Central Valley
Largest Rental Car Company Teams Up with The Salvation Army for month-long food drive
October 28, 2009 - Enterprise Rent-A-Car is partnering with The Salvation Army to host a month-long food drive at all 44 of Enterprise Rent-A-Car locations in the Central Valley - From Stockton and Tracy down to Bakersfield and Tehachapi. Donations collected in this food drive will benefit those families and individuals most affected by the high-employment rates and poor economic conditions.
"Enterprise Rent-A-Car has a long history of building strong relationships in the community," Said Pamela Western, Regional Account Manager for Enterprise Rent-A-Car. "This economy has affected many of our long-standing customers, our employees and the communities we work in. There is a startling level of hunger in the Central Valley and we're proud to partner with The Salvation Army to improve this situation in time for the holidays."
"The need for food is extreme and the need is now," said Captain Dwaine Breazeale, Fresno County Coordinator for The Salvation Army. "The Salvation Army's volume of food distribution has doubled over the last year and will continue to increase into the holiday season. We are very fortunate to have Enterprise Rent-A-Car as a partner in our effort to end hunger in the Central Valley. Now, it's up to the communities of The Central Valley to come together and step up to the challenge - help your fellow community."
The food drive, which kicked-off in some locations on October 12, will continue through November 22. Daily hours of food drive vary by branch location. Individuals may donate food at any Central Valley based Enterprise Rent-A-Car branch from now until November 22. Food collection barrels are located just inside entrance doors at each branch. For branch locations, visit www.enterprise.com, or call (800) 264-6350. Donations should be non-perishable food, like canned soup, canned meats, canned vegetables or fruit, pasta, beans, rice or cereal. Cash and checks are also appreciated.
