Kroc Center Expresses Spirit of Aloha

The Bible says that "Faith, if not accompanied by action, is dead."
With that thought in mind, I take great joy in the fact that so many people throughout the islands have taken their faith in God, in The Salvation Army, and in the people of Hawaii- and put it to action to bring us to this point in time. While we are eternally grateful to Joan Kroc for her legacy of giving to The Salvation Army, the Kroc Center here in Hawaii would not have been possible without the involvement and cooperation of government, business, neighborhood and other local constituencies who saw the potential in the project from the very beginning. In the next few months, we will witness the gradual construction of an amazing facility that will make an incredible impact on literally thousands of youth, families and seniors throughout the island and beyond.
It is important to remember, however, that the Kroc Center, with all of its wonderful facilities, programs and services, will most of all be a living and breathing expression of the Army's Mission to meet the holistic needs of people in Christ's name without discrimination. The Kroc Center will be a place everyone in the community will feel welcome and experience the powerful spirit of Aloha. We have a ways to go yet -- more needs to be done -- but we are well on our way.
Thank you all for your faith. Thank you for your action. God bless you.
