How We Help
The Salvation Army Intermountaint Division offers a wide range of social services in Colorado, Montana, Utah and Wyoming. In addition, a large network, Service Extension, makes it possible for people in small communities to access Salvation Army emergency services anywhere in the four state region.
The Salvation Army is an integral part of each community in which it is located. Along with a network of other organizations and services, The Army exists to meet the needs of the people who live in that community. In more than 100-years of service around the world and here in the Rocky Mountains, The Salvation Army has earned the trust of the communities we are part of and strives to merit continued support.
The manner in which need for assistance is verified and the spirit in which help is given are at the heart of Army service. The compassion and understanding shown in an emergency may open the way for assistance with deep-seated problems and long-term deprivation. Needs may be revealed for counseling, placement, day care, rehabilitation, referral, or other help.

Basic Human Needs
With heart to God and hand to man, The Salvation Army strives to meet the basic needs of all who come seeking help. Taking immediate care of the basic human needs of food, shelter, clothing and safety is an important first step in the development of a more positive and permanent change in the people we help.

It is essential to note that at no time may participation in denominational activities be required as a condition for receiving needed services. All service given in the name of Jesus for meeting human needs and caring for hurting persons is in and of itself valued and is a spiritual ministry.

Principles For Service
Each of our social service programs serving seniors, youth, families, men and women adheres to the following Principles of Service:
  • Treatment of all people as God's children;
  • Demonstration of warmth and personal interest in each person;
  • Listening without being judgmental or condemning;
  • Regarding all information as confidential;
  • Recognition of its own limitations to assist, and seeking needed help from others;
  • Establishing a meaningful relationship with the applicant (whether brief or lengthy) through a caring interest in him or her as a person;
  • Recognition of the worth and dignity of each individual and affirmation of the right of each one to make his or her own decisions.
