Back in July of 1887 The Salvation Army began its work in the greater Pomona Area.  Just 22 years after the International Salvation Army had been founded in London, England by General William Booth.  Armed with just their bible and a concern for the salvation of others Captain Lyngcist and Cadets H. Smith and Pearson hit the streets of Pomona with the intentions of winning Pomona for Christ.

120 years later the work of The Salvation Army in Pomona continues, now expanding around the Southern California area and even around the world in over 114 countries.  Its mission still remaining to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human need without discrimination.

On April 11, 2008 the Pomona Salvation Army now under the leadership of Captains Moy & Erika Hernandez, will be hosting a Gala Celebration Event to commemorate this milestone of service to Pomona and the many other surounding communities.

The Pomona Salvation Army Advisory Board will be organizing this event but we need your help.  We have also secured the attendance of Commissioner Phillip Swyer who is currently the Territorial Commander for The Salvation Army's USA Western Territorry.  Reaching as far east as Montana and south to El Paso, Texas; all the way west to Hawaii, Guam and back north to the Alaskan Territory.

The Advisory Board will also be looking to honor a special individual who is known for their service to this great community of ours.

Please contact our office today to learn more on how you can help, or simply check back with this web site as information will be updated periodically.

On behalf of all those who have come before us and have made this day possible we thank you for your continual support and we hope we can count on your attendance on this up coming celebration.

Captain Moy Hernandez, Jr.  Corps Officer The Salvation Army Pomona Corps cordially invites you to a Celebration of Service
