| 10 Hydration Stations Serve Phoenix Residents During Excessive Heat Emergency | |
The Salvation Army's Excessive Heat Warning Efforts Deployed Today
June 17, 2008 (Phoenix, Ariz.) - Due to the National Weather Service's extension of the Excessive Heat Warning in Phoenix, The Salvation Army will deploy hydration stations through Friday, June 20, 2008. This will be the greatest number of consecutive days of deployment of hydration stations for The Salvation Army's Emergency Disaster Services. As a result of this extended deployment, The Salvation Army was nearing the end of water supply. Thanks to a generous donation of five pallets of water from O Premium Waters, all hydration stations will be fully stocked through the rest of the week.
The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster services will have ten Hydration Stations throughout the Valley. At each location, The Salvation Army will provide chilled bottled water, respite, safety information and also transportation assistance, if needed, to individuals in or potentially in distresses due to the heat. The City of Phoenix Police Department will have certain mobile units throughout the city carrying chilled water provided by The Salvation Army for people in distress.
