THE SALVATION ARMY WOMEN'S AUXILIARY
The Sierra del Mar Division has five active Women's Auxiliaries:
San Bernardino, Riverside, North County,
South Bay and
San Diego County.
Each of these auxiliaries functions to raise funds for
Salvation Army programs and to inform the community
about the work done by The Salvation Army to help
those in need.
In San Diego, the Women of Dedication Committee begins working on the annual Women of Dedication Luncheon 11 months before it actually happens. The Women's Auxiliary works hand in hand with this committee and sponsors the Women of Dedication Tea several months prior to the luncheon.

Several members of the Auxiliary personally underwrote different activities throughout the year. They baked dozens of cookies for elders and provided decorating supplies for the women and children at the Door of Hope. Others, through their business or personal affiliations collected toys, toiletries, and holiday gifts such as pumpkins for carving during Halloween; some delivered Easter baskets. They helped mothers from the Transitional Living Center prepare, set up and serve Thanksgiving and Easter dinners. Often, they donated clothing for residents at the Door of Hope Transitional Living Center.
The Auxiliary has liaison positions at Centre City Corps, El Cajon Senior Nutrition , Door of Hope, Wildwood Ranch Camp, The Kroc Center, Adult Rehabilitation Center and Silvercrest. These board members keep the rest of the auxiliary up to date on what is taking place at each facility and are better equipped to address issues when discussions arise on funding for theseprograms.
The Auxiliary members spend countless hours working on The Christmas Program, from decorating to sorting toys and books or escorting our clients on the Christmas distribution days. Often, they introduce new volunteers to our organization and work very hard at marketing our needs to thecommunity.
Simply put, our Auxiliary members are our
Ambassadors at Large, our eyes and ears in the community. They are a blessing to our organization.
