Become a Disaster Volunteer

Whether it is a fire, flood, hurricane, tornado, or earthquake...The Salvation Army is there, often the first on the scene and the very last to leave.

Trained disaster responders reach out to both victims and emergency workers, providing hot meals, shelter, cleanup, rebuilding assistance, and spiritual comfort.

To become a disaster volunteer, click here to download and print our application. You will also need to submit to a background check. Click here to download the background check consent form. Please mail a check for $6.00 to cover the cost of the background check (write "background check" in the memo, please). If you have any questions, please call Pamela Lennen at 619.446.0200.

Once you've completed the application, you may return it to us by mail or fax. Upon receipt of your application, we will contact you regarding the next step.

There are many ways to help as a disaster volunteer. Click here for a list and descriptions of some of the ways our volunteers contribute during an emergency.
