The Salvation Army Hollywood Temple Corps was established in 1983. From the Corps, you can travel west on Hollywood Boulevard and find yourself in the heart of "Tinseltown"...the Walk of Fame... Chinese Theatre...all the glitz and glamour!
However, the immediate neighborhood show how the glitz and glamour can fade and tarnish. The community is a true melting pot...Anglo, Armenian, Russian, and Latino being predominant. There is a large homeless population in the area, especially young people.
The Army's ministry in Hollywood includes the Hollywood Temple Corps, The Way In Drop-In Center & Shelter, Weingart Red Shield Youth Center, and the Hollywood Silvercrest Residence. All these programs work side-by-side to form a viable, cohesive ministry.
Our Vision
Our vision is to reach our community in small groups by going house to house to house.
We will establish home cells, equip leaders with materials and preparation classes, and form youth groups to support the evangelistic meetings in the community.
We will train new leaders for both youth and adult programs. We will improve our children's programs. We will help those families in need, supplying food baskets whenever possible. Our vision is to reach 100 new families through program and service outreach.
We have a vision for:
50 new Senior Soldiers
50 new Junior Soldiers
New Sunday School Leaders
