The Salvation Army Santa Fe Springs Transitional Living Center, or ?TLC? as its affectionately known, opened in 1992 to serve the growing population of homeless families in Los Angeles. TLC provides comprehensive residential support services to 28 homeless women and their children, most of whom are victims of domestic violence and substance abuse. The two-year program provides families with the tools they need to recover fully and achieve self-sufficiency. More than 80% of TLC graduates find jobs averaging $10/hour plus benefits and 90% move on to permanent, independent housing, making the program one of the most successful of its kind.

TLC is located on a 3.22-acre property in Santa Fe Springs, and offers furnished rooms with a private bathroom, a fully equipped commercial kitchen (that serves three meals daily) and dining area, a learning resource center with computers and educational materials, and various group and activity rooms.
TLC helps move families to permanent housing, increase their skill and income levels and achieve greater self-determination. At TLC, families receive residential care, literacy & job development services, GED preparation, offsite vocational training, employment assistance, and case managed supports with counseling, 12-step groups, parenting education, life-skills classes and a licensed on-site childcare center.

The childcare center and after-school program serves up to 57children. Many of the children have special needs, including developmental delays due to disintegration of the family unit, homelessness, and abuse. In fact, the children often exhibit trauma from these conditions, which have led to deficiencies in education and emotional and behavioral problems. A qualified childcare staff provides an excellent curriculum designed to meet the individual, physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and linguistic needs of each child while enhancing self-esteem, life skills, and the ability to recapture the joys of play.

Spiritual counseling and programs are available for those who express an interest. TLC is a place where lives are transformed!
