You are in: Programs That Help
In 1865, a Methodist minister named William Booth founded The Salvation Army. Booth's initial goal was to provide spiritual guidance to London's most destitute residents, but he soon realized physical assistance in the form of food, clothing, and housing were also necessary. This determination evolved into The Salvation Army's social service programs.
In 1893, The Salvation Army's programs arrived in Phoenix. Today, these programs serve over 1,000,000 individuals throughout the Valley of the Sun each year.
