Making Spokane Better

The 2013 Making Spokane Better Awards recognizes individuals, companies, organizations and foundations who are Making Spokane Better.  All applicants will be judged on the following:  Acts of Service, Volunteerism, Economic Impact, Community Impact, Leadership, and Partnership with The Salvation Army.  Nominations will be done on a community wide basis, in which anyone can nominate or apply online or by mail.  Finalists will be notified one month prior to the Awards Gala.

Award & Nomination Levels

  • The Making Spokane Better - Exceptional Business Award – A local or regional business who is Making Spokane Better through actions and giving.
  • Large Business (100+)
  • Medium Business (50-100)
  • Small Business    (0-50)

The Making Spokane Better - Exceptional Donor Award – Foundations, businesses or private companies who are making Spokane better through their personal monetary contributions to The Salvation Army.

The Making Spokane Better - Best of Show Award (Mission) – A foundation, business, religious organization, individual or group that truly represents what The Salvation Army is about and who/what we represent.  

The Making Spokane Better – Community Involvement Award – A business, religious organization, individual or group that goes above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to community service and/or volunteerism in our community and with The Salvation Army.  

The Making Spokane Better - Best NonProfit – A local non profit, agency or community group that supports the Salvation Army and the Spokane Community through social services, volunteerism, community service, advocacy or financial contributions.

The Making Spokane Better - Club Award – A local club or community group that supports the Salvation Army and the Spokane Community. 

The Making Spokane Better – Newcomer Award – A  group, business, religious organization, or individual that is going above and beyond in its actions or giving to the community and The Salvation Army.  (A new relationship/partnership with the Salvation Army within the past 12 months)  

The Making Spokane Better 2013 Businessperson Award – An individual who represents the mission of The Salvation Army through volunteerism, support or advocacy.

The Making Spokane Better 2013 Media Award – A local media entity that goes above and beyond when offering media support to The Salvation Army through volunteerism, media coverage and event support.

The Making Spokane Better 2013 Citizen Award – An individual who personifies service over self in the Spokane Community and at The Salvation Army, via volunteerism, advocacy, financial support.

The Making Spokane Better 2013 Volunteer of the Year Award – An individual or group who exemplifies exceptional volunteerism in our community and at The Salvation Army.

The Making Spokane Better 2013 Student Awards: Elementary Award, Middle school Award, High School Award, or College Award for community service, fundraising, etc.
