The life of Jesus Christ displays the epitome of a life given to service. The Bible reminds us that the poor will always be among us (Matthews 26:11). Jesus knew and William Booth believed there there would always be a need for programs and services that seek to reach out to the less fortunate. Because of the vision of the General William Booth and the sacrifices of both he and his wife Catherine, The Salvation Army has been providing services in Tacoma and Pierce County since 1888.
