A Grand Success at The KeyBank Grand Friday Concert

Shopping Style Food Pantry Opens in N. PDX Thanks to Oregon Community Foundation Grant

Thanks to a generous grant from the LIFE Center Fund of The Oregon Community Foundation, The Salvation Army Moore Street Community & Worship Center now offers a Shopping Style Food Pantry. What this means is that clients who normally come in for a food box are actually shopping and selecting what foods they most need in their household.

Local Salvationist Wins Pageant Award Wearing Outfits from Local Thrift Store

Several thrift store outfits made a flashy comeback on Saturday, March 10th at the 2012 Mrs. Oregon International Pageant. Mrs. Lauralee Balash, Mrs. Portland 2012, who is a soldier and a volunteer leader at The Salvation Army Portland Tabernacle, competed for the title wearing outfits she found at her local Salvation Army Family Store.

"Biddy at The Sal" Basketball Program Will Be a Slam-Dunk with Your Kids

Portland Tabernacle Salvationist to Compete in Pageant Wearing Family Store Finds

Lauralee Balash, Mrs. Portland, is a soldier at The Salvation Army Portland Tabernacle and is crossing "compete in a pageant" off of her bucket list. What makes her a special contestant is that she has chosen to wear only clothing that she has found at The Salvation Army Family Stores, and she is being sponsored by the Happy Valley Salvation Army Family Store.

The Salvation Army Responds Immediately to Alabama Tornadoes

The Salvation Army in Decatur and Huntsville are prepared to respond to today's tornado touchdowns in Limestone and Madison Counties in North Alabama. Additional Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Response (EDS) teams are fully engaged as the National Weather Service predicts severe weather throughout most of Kentucky, Tennessee and much of the Southwest United States.

Over $796,000 Raised at The Salvation Army Kettles Last Christmas

The official numbers are in for The Salvation Armá¹’s 2011 Christmas season, and with your help, The Salvation Army exceeded its kettle goal, raising $796,232.37 in just 32 days! Over 16,400 people were served this Christmas with toys and/or food.

Tax Help from AARP for Low-Income Families At The Salvation Army in Gresham

To help assist low-income residents in East Multnomah County in preparation of their taxes, The Salvation Army in Gresham/East Portland Family Services and Youth Center programs will be partnering with the AARP Foundation, the nation's largest free, volunteer run tax preparation program starting February 11th.
