The Portland Tabernacle has been serving the needs of Portland since 1888, almost as long as The Salvation Army has been in Portland. Over the years, it has expanded from offering only worship services to also providing food boxes, holiday gift baskets, school supplies, and energy and water assistance. Portland Tabernacle's Family Services Program also offers assistance, referrals and counseling to low-income, elderly and disabled individuals and families in the local community. Their mission is to respond to the growing needs in the Portland community by addressing physical and spiritual needs through the work of the Social Service Program and their chapel and Bible studies.
