The Salvation Army Angel Tree Giving Program was created in 1979 by Majors Charles and Shirley White when they worked with a Lynchburg, Virginia shopping mall to provide clothing and toys for children at Christmas time.
Ever since then, people across the nation have embraced these giving trees and the opportunity to make Christmas possible for thousands of kids.
With the help of local businesses, civic groups and churches in the Portland area, Angel Trees are put up each year in support of providing kids with a memorable Christmas.
Giving Trees are located at various businesses, large and small, throughout Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington Counties.
