Youth learning music at one of the corps

Not every kid is an athlete.  Some kids love the sound of a guitar or trumpet and some want to be the next singing sensation.   Music plays a huge role in the history of The Salvation Army.  In fact, The Salvation Army is known for its incredible Salvation Army Brass Bands that perform nationwide.  It is a different way to communicate with people, and in order to help these kids reach their dreams of becoming the next big musical star, The Salvation Army offers music and choir programs.

The Gresham Corps' music program, in particular, has been greatly endorsed by the nationally-renowned pianist Michael Allen Harrison.  Michael Allen Harrison takes on students within the Corps and works with and mentors some of the young artists.  Lessons are offered by local musicians on all sorts of instruments, allowing the youth a wide variety of choices.

Each Corps, located in Gresham, North Portland, Northeast Portland and Hillsboro, have music programs.  Check out your local Corps for more information on their music program!
